Carmel M. Richards MCSP ACOH
In 1994 I established the Physiotherapy Clinic to provide a local service to Llanelli, Carmarthen and Swansea from a purpose built clinic.
I provide treatment and advice for a wide range of conditions. My interests are the provision of long-term support for people in the community whether that person is a self-employed plumber, a road traffic accident victim, an athlete or a person who has had a stroke.
During my career I have worked as a physiotherapist in the National Health Service (1974 – 1993) in Manchester, Birmingham and Swansea. This involved work in a variety of settings and with different clinical roles and responsibilities. In 1993 I left the NHS to become one of the first Manual Handling Advisors for local government in Wales. This involved training staff on good back care and safe practice while working as well as advising on policies, procedures and equipment.
In 1994 I established Pembrey Physiotherapy Clinic to provide a local service from a purpose built clinic. Besides providing treatment and advice for a wide range of conditions I have acted as a consultant and have prepared reports, given lectures and provided training on the following topics:
- Manual Handling
- Back Injury
- Work Place Assessment
- Work Related Injury
- Road Traffic Accident Injuries
- Complex Disability
