Chronic Fatigue / ME
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is also known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME). Myalgia means muscle pain and encephalomyelitis means inflammation of the brain and spinal cord.
It causes persistent fatigue (exhaustion) that affects everyday life and doesn't go away with sleep or rest. CFS is a serious condition that can cause long-term illness and disability, but many people – particularly children and young people – improve over time. As physiotherapists we aim to reduce pain symptoms with manual therapy, maintain our client’s fitness with graded exercise programmes and educate them on pacing their activities.
