Pre-Operation Preparation

The reason for having an operation is commonly that the person has suffer from pain and / or movement problems for several months due to an underlying condition.

The most common of these conditions are Osteoarthritis and Wear & Tear of the hip and knee joints. The pain and altered movement patterns affect how your muscles quality (health) and their function. When applying physiotherapy techniques to someone waiting for or expecting to need an operation; our aim is to improve their pain levels, their muscular function prior to the operation and therefore their quality of life.

We also believe that if the muscles are working better prior to the operation, they will a better position to return to movement and function after the operation. This should reduce pain and recovery times. In treating patients before they have had an operation we have been able to prolong the need for and prevent the operation.
